Driving tips and useful information about your driving lessons and test

Below is information that most of our beginner drivers in Leeds want to know.

The DVSA theory test consists of a section with multiple choice questions and a hazard perception section. 

The multiple choice section will ask you 50 questions on aspects of the Highway Code and road signs. You need to get 43 correct to pass. 

The Hazard perception section plays you a video simulation of driving a car with hazards unfolding before you. You must score 44 out of 75 on this part of the test.

Both parts of the test must be passed in order to pass overall.

Your examiner will see if you demonstrate a generally safe, high standard of driving throughout the test and particular manoeuvres will also be assessed.

There will be a vehicle safety test in which you will be asked to explain how to carry out a check on your vehicle, for example checking the oil. The driving test will last 40 minutes, in which time you must perform a manoeuvre.

In order to pass, you need to have no more than 15 minor faults during your test and no serious or dangerous faults.

This is aimed at new drivers to help build on your skills and knowledge. You will have to drive in different conditions, including:

* In town

* In all weathers 

* On rural roads

* At night

* On dual carriageways

* On motorways

The course will last at least six hours and aims to make you a safer driver. Taking this course can also reduce your car insurance premium.
